Olney ist nicht wirklich gro\u00df, aber hat dennoch viel zu bieten. Meine Gastfamilie hat mich herzlichst aufgenommen und es war die <a aria-label=\"aufregende Anreise (\u00f6ffnet in neuem Tab)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/36ppp.de\/moritz\/weiterreise-zum-platzierungsort\/\" target=\"_blank\">aufregende Anreise<\/a>  definitiv wert. Ich lebe bei Marty und Ted mit ihrem&nbsp;kleinen Hund Tess. Ich werde&nbsp;ein halbes Jahr am <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iecc.edu\/iecc#\">Olney Central College<\/a> (OCC) studieren. Wir mussten am ersten Tag&nbsp;einen Englisch und Mathe Test&nbsp;absolvieren, der zur&nbsp;Einstufung der jeweiligen Kurse&nbsp;diente. In den darauf folgenden Tagen&nbsp;wurde uns in verschiedenen Angelegenheiten des Alltags geholfen, wie zum Beispiel: Er\u00f6ffnung eines Bankkontos, Anmelden f\u00fcr die Social Security Number oder eine Amerikanische SIM Karte zu bekommen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Weiterhin erhielten&nbsp;wir gemeinsam mit allen&nbsp;Studenten eine Einf\u00fchrung und bekamen dabei gezeigt, was das College alles zu bieten hat. Das einzige Problem am College ist, man braucht f\u00fcr jeden Kurs ein Buch und diese sind einfach unendlich teuer&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Freizeit und Ehrenamt<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>In unserer Freizeit hatten wir (Moe,<a href=\"http:\/\/36ppp.de\/kat-abroad\/\" class=\"broken_link\">Kat<\/a>,<a href=\"http:\/\/36ppp.de\/elena\/\" class=\"broken_link\">Elli<\/a>,<a href=\"http:\/\/36ppp.de\/niko-abroad\/\" class=\"broken_link\">Niko<\/a> und ich)&nbsp;richtig viel&nbsp;Spa\u00df und&nbsp;es ist am Anfang schon hilfreich, Leute um sich zu haben,die man kennt. So sind wir zum Beispiel einen Tag bei mir schwimmen gewesen und sind&nbsp;gleich Freitagsabend&nbsp;in die erste Bar gegangen. Dort gab es neben den ganzen Hei\u00dfluftballons noch diverse Essens St\u00e4nde. Leider zog um 7Uhr ein Gewitter auf, so dass das Festival fr\u00fchzeitig beendet werden musste. Denn um es einmal kurz zu sagen, haben wir super gute Musik auf dem See im Boot unter klarem Sternenhimmel geh\u00f6rt und ein k\u00fchles Bier dabei getrunken. In weiter Ferne konnten wir ein Hitzegewitter betrachten und ebenso bei milden Temperaturen Sternschnuppen sehen. War  irgendwie surrealistisch und trotzdem echt! Wir haben Wasser, Eis und Bananen an die L\u00e4ufer ausgeteilt. Das ganze ging gute zwei Stunden, mir hat es aber ziemlich viel Spa\u00df gemacht. Sie sollen ja alle nur Fast Food essen, dies kann ich aber dementieren, da meine Gastfamilie sehr gesund isst, also kann ich das Vorurteil streichen! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trotzdem habe ich nat\u00fcrlich schon diverse Fast Food Restaurants ausprobiert und muss ehrlich gestehen, die Burger, Hotdogs und Pommes sind wirklich sehr lecker. Mein Lieblingsbier zur Zeit ist das Budweiser und Dies. Das trinke ich ab und zu mal mit meinem Hostdad und seinen Erwachsenen Kindern. Olney ist nicht wirklich gro\u00df, aber hat dennoch viel zu bieten. Meine Gastfamilie hat mich herzlichst aufgenommen und es war die aufregende Anreise definitiv wert. Ich lebe bei Marty und Ted mit ihrem&nbsp;kleinen Hund Tess. Ich habe ein eigenes Zimmer&nbsp;und Badezimmer und kann auch sonst alles im Haus nutzen. Die ersten beiden Tage hat meine Gastfamilie mir erstmal Olney gezeigt und mich Ihren Kindern vorgestellt. Da meine Gastfamilie direkt am East Fork Lake wohnt sind wir die ersten Abende immer Boot gefahren und haben uns die fantastischen Sonnenunterg\u00e4nge angeschaut. Au\u00dferdem hat mir mein Hostdad seine Autos gezeigt und mir stolz seinen wei\u00dfen Volkswagen K\u00e4fer vorgestellt. Fun Fact: Eventuell ist dieser sogar in Emden im Volkswagen Werk gebaut worden. College und das Drumherum Die erste volle Woche begann dann mit der Vorbereitung f\u00fcrs College. Ich werde&nbsp;ein halbes Jahr am Olney Central College (OCC) studieren. Wir mussten am ersten Tag&nbsp;einen Englisch und Mathe Test&nbsp;absolvieren, der zur&nbsp;Einstufung der jeweiligen Kurse&nbsp;diente. Ich konnte nach dem Test gl\u00fccklicherweise alle Kurse w\u00e4hlen und habe mich&nbsp;f\u00fcr folgende Kurse entschieden: Microeconomics Statistics English Principal of Marketing &nbsp;Da wir nur maximal 12 Credits Points w\u00e4hlen d\u00fcrfen, konnte ich nur 4 Kurse belegen. In den darauf folgenden Tagen&nbsp;wurde uns in verschiedenen Angelegenheiten des Alltags geholfen, wie zum Beispiel: Er\u00f6ffnung eines Bankkontos, Anmelden f\u00fcr die Social Security Number oder eine Amerikanische SIM Karte zu bekommen. Weiterhin erhielten&nbsp;wir gemeinsam mit allen&nbsp;Studenten eine Einf\u00fchrung und bekamen dabei gezeigt, was das College alles zu bieten hat. Das einzige Problem am College ist, man braucht f\u00fcr jeden Kurs ein Buch und diese sind einfach unendlich teuer&#8230; Freizeit und Ehrenamt In unserer Freizeit hatten wir (Moe,Kat,Elli,Niko und ich)&nbsp;richtig viel&nbsp;Spa\u00df und&nbsp;es ist am Anfang schon hilfreich, Leute um sich zu haben,die man kennt. So sind wir zum Beispiel einen Tag bei mir schwimmen gewesen und sind&nbsp;gleich Freitagsabend&nbsp;in die erste Bar gegangen. Die Bobalou\u00b4s Bar ist zwar ziemlich klein, aber doch sehr sch\u00f6n und oft&nbsp;mit Live Musik. Am Samstag den 17.08.2019 sind wir&nbsp;zum Ballon Festival nach Centralia, IL gefahren. Dort gab es neben den ganzen Hei\u00dfluftballons noch diverse Essens St\u00e4nde. Leider zog um 7Uhr ein Gewitter auf, so dass das Festival fr\u00fchzeitig beendet werden musste. Wir sind dann weiter zum Bowlen gefahren und&nbsp;hatten dort&nbsp;dabei sehr viel Spa\u00df. Wir haben aber auch einen Abend bei mir verbracht, dieser Abend wird uns wohl alle in guter Erinnerung bleiben. Denn um es einmal kurz zu sagen, haben wir super gute Musik auf dem See im Boot unter klarem Sternenhimmel geh\u00f6rt und ein k\u00fchles Bier dabei getrunken. In weiter Ferne konnten wir ein Hitzegewitter betrachten und ebenso bei milden Temperaturen Sternschnuppen sehen. War irgendwie surrealistisch und trotzdem echt! Danke einmal an euch Germans hier in Olney! Doch auch das Ehrenamt darf in den USA nicht fehlen und somit haben wir am Samstagmorgen beim 5k Run im Ort mitgeholfen. Wir haben Wasser, Eis und Bananen an die L\u00e4ufer ausgeteilt. Das ganze ging gute zwei Stunden, mir hat es aber ziemlich viel Spa\u00df gemacht. Ich hatte so die M\u00f6glichkeit mich mit einigen Einheimischen kurz zu unterhalten. Essen und mehr Das Essen ist ja so eine Sache bei den Amerikanern. Sie sollen ja alle nur Fast Food essen, dies kann ich aber dementieren, da meine Gastfamilie sehr gesund isst, also kann ich das Vorurteil streichen! Trotzdem habe ich nat\u00fcrlich schon diverse Fast Food Restaurants ausprobiert und muss ehrlich gestehen, die Burger, Hotdogs und Pommes sind wirklich sehr lecker. Ich werde wohl in Olney jedes Restaurant die n\u00e4chsten Wochen ausprobieren und ein paar Gramm zunehmen. Ich habe nun schon mein Lieblings Restaurant f\u00fcr Burger Chilly Willy\u00b4s, die Burger sind einfach fantastisch. Des Weiteren trinke ich aber viel stilles Wasser und eher weniger Cola etc.! Mein Lieblingsbier zur Zeit ist das Budweiser und Dies. Das trinke ich ab und zu mal mit meinem Hostdad und seinen Erwachsenen Kindern. (Alkoholkonsum in den USA ist erst ab 21 Jahren erlaubt!)
